How to Obtain a Visa for Travel to China

Citizens of most countries will require a visa to enter China. Visit the website of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in your home country to determine what documentation is required to obtain your entry visa, as well as the time frame involved. Visa approval is at the discretion of the government of China and is not facilitated by ICSC.

Here are some other important links:

Check with your embassy or local consulate in regards to which type of Visa is required.
Important: When filling out the application, do not leave any spaces blank. Put N/A if the question does not apply to you.

Letter of Invitation & Business Introduction Letter

Should you require a letter of invitation from ICSC to obtain a Visa, you can download a template to use. A Business Introduction Letter must fulfill these requirements for submission:

  • Must be written on your company's letterhead
  • Must include the attendee's dates and length of stay
  • Must include the attendee's name exactly as printed on his/her passport
  • Specify the number of entries the attendee is requesting for his/her visa

*Note: This is merely a sample. You will need to check with your local Chinese consulate for details regarding the requirements.

Using a Broker

A broker can help expedite obtaining a visa. If you decide to go through a broker:

  • Visas can be obtained in 4 to 5 business days. Visas can also be processed in 24 hours through a Rush service.
  • All forms and documentation must be presented, along with your passport.
